Blast containment structures

Bi-Steel can be engineered to provide blast protection and blast containment structures for many specialised applications.

These include bespoke buildings to provide protection against blast, electro-magnetic pulses and radiation; structures to store/protect against highly hazardous, unstable or dangerous liquids, gases and chemicals; bio-hazard containment and protection facilities; scientific laboratory installations; ammunitions storage, etc.

Specific applications include:

Blast chambers

Blast chambers

Bi-Steel is ideally suited for the construction of non-vented and partially vented blast containment chambers that are used to contain accidental or controlled explosive events. Bi-Steel chambers have been installed in both Europe and the USA.

Existing conventional chambers, typically constructed using heavily reinforced concrete, can be replaced with Bi-Steel structures that have been proven to save time and money. Most Bi-Steel blast chambers have been manufactured off-site with subsequent assembly and concrete filling carried out in-situ. This has saved significant amounts of site work in environments that are generally associated with high on-site costs. In some cases Bi-Steel chambers have been pre-fitted with process equipment off-site to further reduce on-site time.

Bi-Steel has been designed to resist repeated incidents hence further reducing potential down-time and repair costs. Bi-Steel chambers can be cylindrical or rectangular with each design developed to meet individual customers’ needs.
